Working outside the home doesn't get you off the hook as a homemaker because the house still needs cleaning, the family needs to be fed, laundry done, dogs taken to the vet, & that little touch of you that makes your house a home. This is my attempt to at the juggling act that is wife & mother!

Still Alive
This is just a little note from work to let everyone know that I'm still alive! Our computer at home has been completing a back up that has taken 5 days! So, I have some posts that I'm working on & hopefully will be able to post one with my pictures in the next day or two. Ever the life of a Working Bee Mommy! :)

Yummy for you Smoothie
I'm so sorry that I haven't seen your smiling faces in a while, but as all you other hard working mommies know, sometimes things get out of CONTROL! But I'm back now so moving forward!
I recently started trying this new health supplement that is a meal replacement shake mix that you can create different "recipes" by adding different ingredients to it. So, of course I've been on the hunt for new and interesting smoothie/shake recipes & I came across this spinach one on Pinterest (which I am of course addicted to). Now, I really enjoyed it, but thought that I would play around with it to get a taste that was more to my personal liking. And while I was mulling over what I could change it hit me; Strawberry & Spinach Salad! You see them everywhere during the summer & why couldn't that concept work in a smoothie?! And, I know that some of you are thinking it's gross, but just try it! It's good for you and so YUMMY! So here is my
Strawberry & Spinach Smoothie Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- 5 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup vanilla greek yogurt (if you can't find vanilla then use plain & add vanilla extract)
- 4oz almond milk
- 4oz orange juice
- 5 ice cubes (if not using frozen berries)
- whatever shake/protein powder you choose
- approx 2 1/2 cups spinach
DIRECTIONS:
- Place all ingredients in blender & blend until smooth.
- Pour into glass & drink up!
I love this for any meal but especially breakfast or lunch because I'm always rushing those two meals during the week. It's fast, easy, healthy & tastes great!

Tips for Returning to Work
Having recently gone back to work after having a baby I thought I'd share a few things that I found to help make life easier.
1- Trust your child care provider. Make sure that your child care provider has an open door policy (you can stop by unannounced at any time to check in), and that you feel extremely comfortable with them. This is important for obvious reasons, but if you're not comfortable with the person keeping your child then you'll do nothing but worry the entire time you're at work.
2- Order staples online & in bulk. You'll find the best the best deals on staples like diapers, wipes, formula, etc. online. You'll also find that most online stores will ship these for free. This way you not only get the best price, but you also don't have to worry about remembering or having room in your cart at the store. Another time saver, if your child care provider allows, you can have some of them shipped directly to your child's daycare.
3- Get a quality breast pump if your breastfeeding. I started out with an inexpensive $80 pump that I thought was doing a good job until I managed to get my hands on a much nicer pump. There is no comparison! I'm able to get more milk in less time.
4- Make sure that you know your states laws concerning working mothers and your rights. For example a nursing mother has the legal right to take breaks to pump as well as a private area to pump that is not a bathroom.
5- Become a master multi-tasker. Many times I wash my face or clean the bathroom while my son is taking his bath.
Hope these suggestions help make your transition back to work a little easier!

Learn to Relax
I know that this is a new blog, & that this is my post, & everyone's probably looking for some neat trick to getting things done around the house better or faster. But, today I realized something that I felt I must share with all the other working homemakers out there on the "interweb." Learn to occasionally take some time to relax. I know that sounds ridiculous to some of you, but allow me to continue.
Just my thoughts, hope they help!
